The Nelson County Education Association is seeking your opinions on what we should set as our goals and priorities for the 2010-2011 school year. Funding for education is obviously going to be a huge issue again this year, and we hope that you will join us in seeking continued support for educational funding at the State and local levels. We also know that you each face unique challenges in your schools, and we hope that you will allow us to work together to overcome those challenges. Please share your ideas with our officers and buiding reps. You can reach our President at her email address: nceapresident@gmail.com

Nelson County Leaders Make Their Presence Known!
On February 27, 2010, Leaders from the Nelson County Education Association, joined educational leaders from around the Commonwealth to Rally in Richmond for greater funding for our Schools. Facing cuts of nearly $2 billion, public education was in great peril, and the leaders of the Blue Ridge UniServ took action. Creating a coalition of educational partners from the VEA, the PTA, the State Superintendents’ Association, and the State School Board, we rallied at the State Capitol with more than 700 people to seek the support of the Governor and the General Assembly for greater funding. And we succeeded. VEA President Kitty Boitnott has credited our Rally with turning the tide in the debate on funding for K-12. Together we can accomplish great things for our members and for our students. If you would like to be part of our efforts in 2010-2011, please contact your NCEA officers or your building reps and ask them how you can help.
